Metal barrels tend to have a better more rounded profile and don't suffer
from join seams. The better ones have one piece or integrated turned metal
muzzle breaks (eg Eduard or Armo see reviews on Track-Link.net).

Metal track links by Fruil can look very impressive and sag very nicely but
are costly and require additional assembly time. Metal tracks are also very
flexible in terms of painting and weathering options.

Photo etch can add realism to kits but again adds time to construction time
and most people only use half the pieces included in the set. I would
recommend using a bending tool like Hold and Fold (see my review on
Track-Link.net).

If you have a lot of questions about construction techniques etc I would
recommend buying Tony Greenland's Panzer Modelling Masterclass as the
techniques apply to all model AFVs.

Cheers
