Hi,
Aside from a flexifile, the first thing I do is to glue the muzzle brake
halves with liquid cement. A very light sanding follows to remove any
finger oils and slightly dull the plastic. Here is the unusual part: I use
a black ink marker over the muzzle brake halves at let this dry a few
minutes.
Then, I run a thin line of cyanoacrylate (super or krazy) glue along the
seam. After this, I place a thin strip of the shiny clear tape along the
seam over the glue. This step spreads the glue out evenly and minimizes the
sanding process. sometimes I do not have to sand it at all!
When sanding, I use the black ink (which is disappearing) to judge when to
change to a finer sandpaper. Again, I use a black ink marker (because it
dries very quickly) to see if the seam is still visible and repeat if
necessary.
Just remember that there are areas on cast muzzle brakes which are machines
and these should be smooth. Use photos to dictate where it should be cast
textured and where it should be smooth.
Enjoy!
