I remove the locating pins first, then run the faying surfaces (the surfaces
to be glued) over some fine sand paper on a flat surface to get good fit-up.
Only a few swipes are needed, just enough to show scratch marks on the
entire seam. Then I dry fit the halves and plan out how I will do it. I
also dry fit my clamps (clothes pins, usually) to make sure they aren't
squishing anything or distorting it. I then put a coat of liquid cement on
the faying surfaces of each half and let it dry a few seconds before fitting
together. Keep yur fingers away from the seam, ditto with the clamps.
Check the fit, then run liquid cement lightly on top of the seams. LET IT
DRY COMPLETELY. A few swipes with fine paper ought to do it.
