Found it.
Military Modelling July 1995.
Alas I don't have the magazine, rather a photocopy from the Hamilton Public
Library( shameless plug for the public library system. And a pox on all
those low lifes who tear pages out of magazines or steal books.)
Basically John Prigent describes scratchbuilding the cover for an early TII
by laminating numerous layers of 10 thou plasticard together and adding
wings, as Christophe has suggested. I too assume that the covers were the
same size- they look like it in pictures.
I'll attempt a scan if you want- not sure of quality off a photocopy or can
send you a copy via mail.
