Hi Piotr,

The best way, I think, is to use pastel chalk dust. There are two manufacturers that sell prepared chalk dust in a variety of colors just for this use. But the easiest and cheapest is to make the dust yourself.

What you need is pastel chalk. What you do is go to an arts and craft store and pick up some small sticks of artist chalks, preferbly in earth tones. Some white and black will also be good. Then to make the dust use a razor knife (X acto) and scrape the chalk. Chunks of the chalk come off. To make the powder, use the handle of the knofe and roll it over the chunks.

Now that you have the powder, you can mix the colors just like paint to create different shades.

Take a soft brush, dip it into the powder and then brush it on. It takes a little practice so I'd practice on some scrap models.

Hope this helps.

Steve
