I built one of these years ago, I'm building another one (Italeri kit + Tamiya M4 early hull + Tank Workshop early M4A3 conversion + Dragon HVSS + AFV Club HVSS tracks).
The two main problems with this kit are :
1- It has a late production M4A1 hull with large hatches, there is no photographic evidence an M32 recovery vehicle (technically an M32B1) based on this type of hull ever existed.
Solution : kitbash with another Sherman like the Tamiya M4 early or M4A3 or one Dragon/DML M4A1 (hard to find) or Dragon M4A3 with HVSS.
2- the tracks are overly stiff
Solution : get aftermarket tracks or use the tracks in the kit from your kitbash (see 1-)
There is a very good article written by John Tapsell in a recent Military in Scale, he kitbashes the Italeri kit and a Dragon M4A1. I'll try to find out which issue exactly.
Cheers,
Christophe |
