I got a crazy idea to stretch my modeling skills and scratch built the various boxes on top of the hull and left the lids open. It then occurred to me that I have no idea what was actually stored inside of them. I have scanned the internet looking for some ideas about what they put in there and found very little. Can anyone recommend a source to review of give me some idea what the crews actually used these bins for? I have assumed they did not store ammo and surmised that they were likely filled with personal gear. But I have no real basis for this assumption.

The bins did contain personal items. I'm pretty sure that there were
official stowage diagrams for the desert Honeys that detailed what was
_supposed_ to go in each bin. I have no doubt that what was actually
stowed seldom bore any resemblance to what the official stowage diagrams
required, but it would be a place to start. Unfortunately I don't have
these stowage diagrams.
Phil Dyer had a great article in AFV News Vol 26 No 3 that showed the
large number of configurations of desert Honeys built on several
versions of Stuart, but even that does not detail the contents of the bins.
