Much like the other individuals who replied, I typically use either a hobby knife or razor saw to cut off the piece.

However, the real reason for this response is to offer a warning against using a dremel tool to cut the piece off the casting block. Fine resin dust is not something that you want to inhale. Although the verdict is still out, the dust is not good for the health of your lungs. If you want to use a power tool for cutting resin, I would highly recommend that you use a filtered mask and also consider eye protection.

As Tony Greenland (and others) have commented, we really need to consider the hazards of our hobby. We are working with really nasty solvents, resins, materials- such as lead, and other chemicals. Yes, the scale is small, but everything adds up over the years.
