"I have always thought the IR stuff was great; I wonder how much it was used. ??????"

Hi
According to one of my books - Compendium Modelling Manuals Panzerkampfwagen V Panther - these devices were used during WWII. The author has modelled a Panther based on detailed information referring to a unit which fought in the battle for Seelow Hieghts: Panzer Regiment 29 from 12th Panzer Division. The author found many surviving veterans who had been part of this formation and they were a great help with the research for the info including tactical numbers etc. He also mentions another unit that fought in Hungary in 1945 but states there is no reliable information on it nor its history and combat activity.

The model in mentioned above was built by Mirko Bayerl and is on show at the missing Lynx site at

Well worth a look. The book is very good as well if you plan building the later Panther models and would like some ideas or pointers.

Cheers
Steve
