The traditional way has been to use fine tissue soaked in white glue and hten trimmed to suit. Personally I find tissue too grainy and like to use epoxy putty. It sometimes takes two layers to get a smooth flowing shape, but you can do an awful lot with the putty that you can't do with tissue.
