Hi Scott,

Two books imediately spring to mind:

The panzers and the battle of Normandy by George Bernage

and

The panzers, Normandy then and now (I think that's the title off the top of my head) by Eric Lefevre (one of the "After the Battle" series)


Both have some good photos of the StuG III in Normandy - though if I remember rightly in the latter book most are of knocked-out vehicles.

On the whole some early StuG IIIG's were used, but mostly late StuG IIIG's - though I'm sure others with greater knowledge of the subject may be able to put you straight on this!
