| Subject: | How to fit crew with PICTURE | |

I have had good success by not gluing the figures together first. Build the crew area of the halftrack, then get the legs for the driver to fit. If you need to, you can cut the bottom of the boots back a good bit, as they are really not visible at all in the end. Likewise, shaving around the lower back may help the leg parts fit properly. Next fit the torso in place. If you need to tilt it forward or back to fit the seat, you can shave the bottom of the torso, which again will not be visible. Lastly fit the arms. You can use standard cut/fill techniques if necessary.
The sitting driver that comes in the DML halftracks, Borgward, etc., is a generic figure also. He really does not fit any kit without some work. Also, he is in a tanker uniform, so he really isn't appropriate in a troop carrier.
The seated driver in Tamiya's 251 D fits very well. I still fiddled with him a bit to make sure he really sits snugly. |
