Well, since I am making a Panzer IV G out of it I decided to eliminate the port. I couldnt find it on any other G model or any photos that I found. I just heated some spruce and flattened it with a cig lighter and cut a back plate and puttied it out smooth. Im almost done with the construction and am going to start painting soon. Im going with a desert paint sceme and trying some serious weathering for the first time. The part that I really dont like is the tracks. I was gonna try and heat them a little and put them on a jig I made to put a little sag in the right places between return rollers. Instead of loosening up a little, they totally deformed in a couple places, so now I have to buy a new set of tracks. I would just get a plastic set of individual tracks, but the plates that are over the tracks is in place, so I dont know how in the world I'd get them on. It looks like I am stuck with buying a $37 set of friulmodel tracks for my first model in 10 years. If anyone has a good idea, or knows where I can get some cheaper than that, I would greatly appreciate it.
