Hey Eric,
I've done it both ways and have found that it is sometimes easier to anneal it, sometimes not. That doesn't really answer your question, but I'll explain. For straps and things that normally require roundness, I anneal; for straight bends and stuff, I just bend. Just experiment a little. Hope this helps.
