The old Tamiya kit has a few inaccuracies - there are a few holes and mounts for the motorisation. They'll need to be dealt with, and the slope of the engine covers is too steep so the overall deck is too high. It's not too noticeable unless you put it in with a mess of other T-34s :-)
There are a good set of wheels, but photos often show a mix of wheels on one tank, as the fitters got anything they could to get the tanks rolling.
If you've already got the Tamiya kit, then don't worry, it will build up into a pretty good kit. Italeri make a good M1942 also kitted by Zvezda by the way - if your budget will stretch to it you can buy the kit and swap a few of the all steel wheels for Tamiya's rubber shod early wheels.
My money is on the Dragon kits - superb but very pricey.
BTW the Russians always gave their tanks the coming year rather than the present year as a model number, so the 1942 model first appeared in 1941 :-) |
