Hi Barry, the first roadwheels on either side also have large springs, they are just not visible because they are internally mounted the swing arm axle is splined to an internal arm that pushes up against the springs, as the rest of the wheels. Internally you would still find the spring "tower" that holds the spring inside. I have no idea why they felt it necessary to change the suspension setup in this way.
