Subject:  Plastic Surgery - removing moulded-on partsList thread.

I have been away from the hobby for quite some time now and am just getting back into it full swing. I am having a little trouble with this photo etch stuff. The PE parts themselves seem easy enough to work with, but I am not sure about preparing the plastic for the PE parts.

Specifically:

1. How do I remove molded-on tank fenders and side skirts (i.e. Tamiya Mark IV’s/DML T-34 tanks etc) without ruining the entire hull.

2. What is the best way to remove raised styrene surface detail (i.e. fighting compartment vents, gun sight openings, mesh etc) in order to replace with PE details?

3. What is the best way to remove/open hatches and access panels?

Thanx
