Peter,
The sprocket should be LESS wide, since the early 36 cm tracks are smaller then the later 41 cm. (or 42, don't remember). I'm sure you meant that while typing.

In that case, I would say: the Tamiya sprocket is quite reasonable quality, just cut some of the axis away, dude. I'm sure that there are riveteers out there that will not forgive you this, probably. But I done the same on my early panzer IV's.
