Hi Konrad,

Yes epoxy is plenty strong, I've used it to fix model railroad stuff, automotive parts, and toys for my two kids. If it will stand up to them, it is surely strong enough to hold PE on, Id use it sparingly though, or you'll wind up with glue oozing from the joint.
