This is always tricky. I find that it is just a matter of very careful scoring with a sharp X-acto knife and gently snapping off the part. Try not to apply too much pressure attempting to snap off the part, if it won't give then score it more with the knife.

For thicker more sturdy parts I have a little X-acto saw that fits a #1 handle.
