| Subject: | DML PzIIIE - heat? Solutions to warpage | |

Nick,
Having warpage problems thruought a kit and not just on one sprue sounds
like the kit may have been left in the sun.
Common source of warpage problems like this are exposure to extreme heat
such as being left in a parked car in summer, or a mail order parcel left on
the front door, or a box on display in a shop window. (Whats worse is you
can't even control for what happens before you receive the kit.)
This sort of problem can affect both built and unbuilt kits. Barrels can
suffer the worse (hence one reason i like aluminium barrels).
One way to address existing warpage is to place the warped part in warm
water and gently coax it back to shape and let it set held firm in place,
this may involve usign a good dose of glue and a clamp.
As a general comment, when storing kits its best to make sure the sprues are
packed evenly and flat (eg large sprues on bottom, small sprues above it) in
the box (such that if they were paper they wouldn't bend to much) and the
box is stored in a room which doesn't become excessively hot or damp. Also
don't leave finished or half built kits on work benches or in cabinets which
are exposed to the midday summer sun.
Cheers
