Most ww2 German cam nets I have seen in photos are just net. Some times they had branches and other foilage inserted into them. The British had a netting which I think is called Hessian netting It has strips of cloth sewn into it. I am not an expert these are just my observations. I think you have some latitude to do a variety of things for the Germans.
Slightly off topic but maybe of interest...
On Moderns (Nato) the netting we used had small short strips of plastic attached to the netting (I think those strips has some Infrared blocking properties). I simulated this recently on a Canadian Leopard C2 by soaking the netting in white glue then forming it on to the model where I wanted it. Then I added some oregano from my wifes spice rack. After this all dried I removed the excess material and airbrushed the whole net with a couple of shades of green to blend it together and to the model. Seems to work pretty well. I hope to photograph the Leopard this week so I can post some pictures of it in case anyone is interested. |
