Hi Eric,
I've always tried not to get spurs by using the sharp Xacto blade method, but if I get the odd one - I secure the p.e. piece length-ways in a pair of tweezers and hold it with as little protruding as possible. Using either a sanding stick or file, I gently wear the spur down flush with the edge of the piece, again - in a lengthwise direction using one pass at a time, not back-and-forth.

Good luck & cheers,
Gary
