Subject:  Armor texture, how rough is ROUGH?List thread.

Hello TL'ers,

After reading Tony Greenland's masterclass, I tried texturing armor the same way he does on an old kit.

Honestly, I think he overdid the texturing. I seriously don't think that rolled armor on either German, American, Soviet, or British armor has gouges THAT deep.

An example would be his Porsche Tiger I. Many photos I have of tanks using rolled plate show very smooth textures, very much like smooth concrete walls or sidewalks.

Where does one draw the line between making the model look accurate versus artistically pleasing? Of course, this applies to dry brushing, weathering, painting too!

Prestine tanks rolling off the assembly like look like "very badly weathered" models. Which leaves me wondering, what constitues to bad painting? Or bad armor texturing?

Sincerely,
-=Yc. Wang=-
