Hello Chris,

Thanks for replying. I have always thought that the molded on texture that
comes with the kit is best left AS IS, unless it is really bad. Usually
after painting, the texture will look really smooth. But if you look at real
tanks using rolled plates, it IS that smooth when shrunk to 1/35 scale.
Problem is, how to make texture realistically without compromising scale
accuracy?

I have seen tanks that are either over texturized or simply too smooth.
Personally, prior to adopting the airbrush, the tanks I paint will have a
sort of texture created by uneven brush strokes. This turns out to be
suprisingly realistic when compared to the slightly uneven surface of real
AFVs, especially those from WWII with many layers of paint.

Now with an airbrush, my first few kits look "naked" - much too smooth for
comfort. Question is, will adding a primer layer actually help create a
textured look? Or do I have to texturize manually whatever method preferred?

Any good examples online?

Thanks!

Sincerely,
-=Yc. Wang=-
