Regarding the RC comment I was merely relaying the sentiments I hear when we "chew the fat" in the LHS. Some guys didn't like the sprayers because they coated everything in accelerator. they suggested using tube, and I carried even further by using an empty glue bottle and affixng the tube into the dispenser.

Tap water works, but as stated earlier it may leave a bit of white residue. It's not the weird crazing you get when supergluing a clear piece, it's just some odd white residue that scrapes off easily. I'm also not sure just how large a surface it'll work on either. I use superglue in such small amounts that a drop of water does the trick if the accelerator isn't handy. I may not use store-bought accelerator much any more if I continue to have success with water.

I actually got the water-as-accelerator idea from some wargaming folks who use it to build their armies and vehicles, they being white metal and such.
