Hi.

You'll need Panzer Grey for early war vehicles, white and black for odds and ends, and for some detailing and in case you want to add winter camouflage. Unlike Steve, I'd recommend PollyScale Acrylic paints. No brush marks, easy to use, they thin with water, and you just need water and soap to clean up. No toxins...

You can buy the railroad colors that look right (Grimy Black, White and Blue will set you up to mix your own Panzer Grey) if you are comfortable mixing colors yourself, otherwise use their armor line of colors.

You can paint some stuff on the sprues, but you don't want paint on surfaces to be glued. So you'll have to paint afterwards also. Be sure to wash the sprues in soapy water, and then rinse and dry them before you do anything.

In addition to liquid cement and a brush you'll need nail clippers ( a cheap substitute for a sprue cutter ) to help you get parts off the sprues (trees), paint brushes, an exacto knife (or copy) and sand paper will help you smooth out edges. I buy fine sand paper from the automotive section at a department store rather than spend a lot for 'hobby' paper. A can of spray paint primer is a reasonable thing to use too.

If you like, I can send you some extra brushes, a cheapo Xacto knife clone that I have and some extra sand paper. E-mail me if you want that stuff.

The book Paul has offered is a PERFECT guide for you.
Andy
