>>a._ The tracks are not permanently glued to the model yet (they are removable). Should I glue them on and paint them along with the entire model?
As was said, it's your preference, however, if they go on and come off easily enough, I'd take them off as you'll ahve much better access for all levels of painting and then add them back for the final strectch of weathering to help them all blend together nicely.
>>b._ Should I affix the stowage (nets, boxes, gear...) now and paint everything? Or should I leave them as separate assemblies?
Personally I like to do it like the real thing, paint everything seperatley, but weather it all together.
It also helps hide any small glue marks from placing painted items later in the process.
>>c._ Do Cromwell/Challenger tracks rust? Or do they become dull silver with bright well polished spots where there they contact the ground?
The answer is yes to both questions. If you leave any tank alone overnight it will form a light coat of bright orange rust over every thing. Let it sit for longer and you get more rust and it also gets darker as well. Now, take that tank for a 2 minute run through open ground and all the wear surfaces will be a nice bright burnished metal. Take a look at a bulldozer or power shovel at a construction site and you'll get exactly the right idea.
d._ What is the interior color for a 1945 British tank?
White.
With dirt. :-)
e._ Do the tracks sag and touch the top of the wheels or is the current amount of slack okay (the tracks are slacked but do not touch the wheels)?
Yep, as was said, at least the middle 4 road wheels should be in contact.
f._ I don't have a very complete paint collection, nor do I have a good airbrush. What is the best commercially (closest match out of the bottle) available color for British ETO AFVs?
Tamiya OD with a small hint of a medium green to add a slight green shade to it works for me as SCC15 Olive Drab. Apparently Humbrol 155 on its own is too green and a bit too light (the MAFVA web site references section). Once you have the basic colour add a little dark yellow to it to lighten it up and maybe a very little white if you are attempting to recreate the effects of a very bright day. White on its own willtend to grey the OD while the yellow lightens it an leaves it still looking like OD.
