Hi Paul,

I did have the same problem with the Aber fenders for the Cromwell. I found the following solution.
First bend the sides so you get a 'U' shaped profile, this will 'strengthen' the fenders. Then cut the cardboard in the correct width so you can place the fenders on it. (It's possible you may have to glue two pieces off cardboard back to back to achieve the correct height to avoid damage to the bended side portions.) Then heat the fenders, but be carefull, to hot or to long will damage them. Then place the fenders on the pre cut cardboard, (tape them in place if possible), and use a pen or other tool to trace the embossing. Don't try to do it in one go, but take at least three or four times.
The 'pre-bending' will strengthen the fenders, the heating will make the fenders more 'mallable'. It did work for me with the Cromwell fenders, I think the 38T fenders are rather similiar.
For 'flat' parts, e.g. parts without bending surfaces to increase the strength, heat them and tape them to a piece off cardboard. Then cut away the tape over the position you want to emboss. Again, emboss it in several runs. Use a disolvement agency to remove the tape, as pulling it of will most certainly warp the PE piece after all.
Hope my English is good enough to communicate the solution, if not, I will try it again if needed! ;-)

Alex
