Hello John,

I don't know if it really is 'the best way' but I treat mine as follows.

I check the parts that must remain clear, cut Tamiya masking tape to size with a new scalpel/hobbyknife, carefully place the tape where it has to go and then airbrush the whole part in the appropriate colour.

After the paint dries, you carefully peel off the tape with the sharp point of a hobbyknife.

Sofar this worked perfectly for me on Clear Vision Ports for Dragon Tiger I-Late, AFV Club 251D and Dragon's SdKfz 234/4.
