If you are referring to the last wheel on the vehicle that does not touch the ground, hence not a road wheel, it is idler wheel. This has an adjustable swing arm to take up slack in the track to maintain proper tension. The access to the adjusting bolts is via a square 4-bolt cover just below and to the outside of each armored exhaust housing on the rear of the vehicle. According to maintenance manuals, the proper tightness is one-hand width above the first road wheel behind the drive wheel (sprocket).

Refer to descriptions and photos in chapter 16 (pp 108-114) of A. Devey (1999; Jagdtiger: the Most Powerful Armoured Fighting Vehicle of World War II, Vol. I Technical History; Schiffer).

As for modelling - use the idler wheel to take up slack after assembling your individual links and test fitting them - just like the prototype. Then glue the axle.
