One "cost effective" ( I used to be in sales), method that has worked for me in the past, is to use solder. This comes in various diameters.
Cut a length, longer than required, lay it in on a flat surface, cutting board will do, take a flat file placed at around 45 degrees to the length, gently roll the solder across the surface, with enough pressure for it to roll and not drag.
It takes a few trial runs, as the file works down the length, but after a while you kinda get the hang of it. As the solder rolls, the end will flop around a bit, so slowly is the watchword.
After market stuff has the correct lay, but this method is simple and still looks the part. Plus it easy to shape.
