First you have to decide about the clothing your tanker is wearing. The one-piece herringbone twill coveralls were a forest green color that faded rather rapidly to a pale green. I have seen few of the ones that I've seen fade to the grey color seen in some older Osprey books. The tank crews also wore the standard GI wool shirt and trousers in a very brownish OD. The "tanker jacket" along with the matching bib-front cold weather trousers and cloth cold weather helmet were originally in OD#3, a very light tannish OD that fades to almost khaki color, the jacket cuffs, collar, and waistband were a brownish olive green wool. The tanker helmet was a light OD with tan leather that quickly dirtied to a brown leather color.
Hopefully this might get you started. |
