Hi Ralph.
The figure looks pretty darned good for your first oil attempt!!! What figure is it?
The face looks great. The jacket and cap are a nice shade of grey, with good work on the highlights and details,
but maybe too grey? If he's in the artillery (red waffenfarbe) I think there should be some green in the jacket.
The camo pattern on the pants is well done, but doesn't exactly match what I've seen of SS camo patterns. I
think your light color is too light. If that's a 'peas' pattern, the lightest color is a tan/green. It looks
like there's not much shading on the trousers. If you have sepia or some shade of umber, you can add a little
shading with that without trying to match it to each color in the camo. That's what I did for my Schwimmwagen
crew (http://www.track-link.net/gallery/1260). I did their camo in acrylics, and used a little shading with
oils.
You could try adding a touch of color to the lips, but the flesh tone looks nice to me, and the details around
the eyes, nose and mouth are great. Likewise the jacket is really well shaded. Aren't oils fun for that!!
Anyway, it's a nice looking figure. My only criticism is with the colors you've used for the uniform. The paint
job itself looks great.
Cheers
