I'm sorry, I obviously can't handle more than one thought at a time. Your figure is very well done, especially for the first one in oils. I do agree that the gray should be a little darker to represent scale black. If you haven't found out, flesh is a good highlight color for black. It lightens black without looking chalky.

The face is well done with good flesh tones and good eyes; no pop-eyes here. Again, a very good first effort.
