Curtis,

Use thick, gap filling or slow drying cyanacrlic glue ( super glue ). This will give you time to adjust the fit of the parts. test fit prior. If you think that weight may be a problem you can also pin the parts. This consists of drilling an appropriate size hole in the two parts and superglue a brass rod between the parts. This is also important to the base of the figure ( usually through the foot ). Hot all figures fit perfect so epoxy putty is a good solution to fillinf and sculpting any gaps. I'm not quite sure that epoxy putty is strong enough to hold the parts together. Whatever you use make sure to wash te parts with something like dawn dish detergent to remove any mold release agent.
