I'm pretty sure the WW2 uniform would work.

I base this on the changes to the gear etc. of the British Soldier, where the 1937 and 1944 webbing were used well after the introduction of the 1958 pattern.

And when I was a cadet about 30 years ago, we wore British Pattern BD that was to all intents and purposes the same as Canadian issue WW2 stuff. Puttees and all...

So my guess is WW2 gear would work.
Perhaps someone else out there has a reference?
