If you want a full recipe, paint the unform in a very dark grey you mix from some kind of black and blue or brown. Then do the shadows in black and highlight with a lighter mix of the base color. A little 'flesh' color added to the highest highlights can work well. Yes, plain old caucasian flesh color...

This is all really easy to do with oils, or you can use glazes of acrylics.
