Hey RC

Since you have raised a good question I hope others will chime in as well.I used Dragon's set of figures for their early Stug III series that was put out some time ago and then ran into the same problem you are facing.I have used early war Panzer crew figures minus the berets. By using field caps or helmets and pink piping they became early Stug III crew. The Uniforms after the Kursk battles really did begin to change all around,length-cut-material-pockets-camo paterns, enough change that a good refence book would be warranted. This is especialy so if you are using figures for Self Propelled guns or anti-tank gun crews.
In the meantime I'll drop these references your way,and perhaps anyone else with some good info can send up a flare.
Here is what I have in the old library specificly regarding uniforms.
Brian L.Davis "German Combat Uniforms of World War II" Vols I and II
by Arms and Armour Press. These are Uniforms Illustrated No.5 and No.7
in their series on uniforms.
They are soft cover books in the format of the Osprey books.
Plenty of good photos and well written captions. Many pics are of "In the Field" use by the Troops which I like in conjunction with parade ground shots. This series is old enough that it may have been bought out and put into another name so you may have to "google" a bit by author.
Also in Soft Cover is Squadron's book "World War 2 Combat Uniforms and Ensignia" by Martin Windrow. This covers the main combatants of WWII,with good basic info and Pics. Again it is in the Osprey format.
My Pride of the Fleet Volume is a Hard Cover book also by Brian L Davis "German Army Uniforms and Insignia 1933-1945"
This is my go to book -Lots of excellent pictures and research.I stumbled upon this work in 1980 so it may be long out of print.

All these books are atleast 10 years old so keep that in mind. You may find some of them in used book stores or EBAY.
Sadly I do not know of any Internet sites with major uniform resources.Much of my library all across the board- Uniforms -Vehicles- Markings-could stand some updating as knewer acurate research has been done in all fields.
as they say in the movies
"Hold until relieved"
Dave
