Go for it man! Feel free to post pics of your work if you want. Nothing wrong with modifying kit figures, in fact some of the best figures out there are conversions. I know of guys in the figure hobby who will cut/sand/dremel the hell out of a stock figure and produce some beautiful work of an entirely new subject!
