Hello Ian,
Deutsche Reichsbahn uniforms for locomotive staff consisted of
-Black trousers
-Medium Blue shirt
-Black jacket which was not usually worn during operation because
of the heat at the footplate.
-Black shoes
-Red neck scarves (sweat cloth) were frequently seen
All clothing was liberally coated with stains of soot, coaldust and oil.
Station staff uniforms is not so easy to answer.
Obviously a Station Master would be dressed more smartly than the guys who coupled wagons to locomotives etcetera.
Check out this link : http://www.rocousa.com/ and then surf on to the pages with Preiser figures.
Preiser is 'the' manufacturer for railroad figures in various scales; checking the pics of their avaiable figure sets will surely give you a lot of inspiration for painting your figures around the BR 52.
DR Period figure sets are marked as such; take care you don't mix them up with postwar Bundesbahn figures. Differences between the two range from very visible to barely noticeable.
H.T.H. and Happy Modelling
