This is bringing back lots of memories - I remember reading in Military Modelling in the 1970s as a teenager an article on the Hinchcliffe company. It was based in Yorkshire I believe (possibly Harrogate?)& one of the designers of their artillery kits was Peter Gilder - wonder where he is now?
I remember Norman Abbey building dioramas for Military Modelling articles too around that time, 2 of his works I can recall were the death of Prince Louis Napoleon of France during the Zulu War & another featuring Plains Indians. I read that Norman had sadly passed away about a year ago.
Another name which comes to mind from this period (although nothing to do with Hinchcliffe) is that of Sid Horton of Chota Sahib fame. How many readers can recall Sid's series in Airfix Magazine from about 1974 on The Charge of The Light Brigade, where he built a series of 17th Lancers at Balaclava, & all the figures were converted from the same kit - the Airfix 54mm 10th Hussar. I remember thinking at the time that this was a marvellous series.

Cheers,
Chris
