Gazza,
Yes it was nice that Norman Abbey's diorama was saved for posterity by going to the RRW Museum, but the Royal Regiment of Wales itself wasn't saved! In the last round of defence cuts several infantry battalions had to go, & the RRW & Royal Welch Fusiliers had to amalgamate to form the Royal Welch (Welsh?) Regiment. Another 2 proud Regiments with centuries of history sacrificed on the altar of economy - hope the ladies & gentlemen of Whitehall feel pleased with themselves.
Sorry to put a damper on this, a very pleasant round of reminiscences.
Thanks for raising the thread, I enjoyed it.
