Though its used interchangeably with 1/16th, 120mm figures are actually closer to 1/15. Not that it matters a whole lot, as most figures will vary, even figures in the same scale from the same maker. Verlinden figures, for example, run the spectrum. Their earlier figures seem to be closer to 1/16 scale, though they are called 120mm. Their later stuff is usually a bit larger, and looks out of place with many "true" 1/16th scale figures. S&T figures, Warriors, Tamiya and DML plastic figures are the closest to what I would call 1/16th scale.
Imperial Gallery, Fort Royal Review, The Roll Call, and others are generally in the "true" 120mm scale, and many times dwarf other manufacturers figs. The only real way to know if any 2 figures will work together is to either have them both in hand, or ask around and hope that someone has them and can do a comparison.
