Not just civilians in prison camps -- remember how few Polish soldiers and
captured Russians were alive for liberation in 1945. Millions of Slavic
soldiers died in captivity. Sadly, even the Russians who did survive
captivity were ordered to be sent to gulags in Russia by Stalin for the
"crime" of being captured instead of dying for Mother Russia. Of course
these people also had seen the West and Stalin was deathly afraid of them
infecting "the folks at home" with the truth about conditions outside
Russia. Did you know that prior to the war, the folks who controlled what
the Russian public saw of the West authorized showing of the movie "Tobacco
Road" which underscores the poverty of rural America in the 1930s? It
backfired when the poor Russians saw the "poor" Americans driving cars,
wearing shoes, etc., and began asking for these commodities from the Soviet
state industries.

Panzer Shop in the Czech Republic makes several resin figures of liberated
Concentration Camp prisoners and two of GI medics helping them. I bought one
of each for sale in my hobby shop over a year ago -- guess what still
haven't sold despite being displayed at several shows and advertised on T-L?
It would be interesting to see some Organization Todt laborers working on
the Atlantic Wall defenses but we all know we'll never see them.
