Painting of DAK figures:
Gentlemen,I was a fan of the late Henry Lyons of the New England Military Miniature Societey when I served with the 82nd Abn Div from 1970-1972.I remember thinking that figure painters generally do not paint "sweat" on soldiers serving in hot climates.Even temperate climates create sweat in the form of anxietey emanating from the armpits to backs to crotches. This would best be represented by a brighter, semi sheen variant of the basic uniform color.Another phenomenon was that field soldiers who were favored by St.Michael the Arkangel(spear dancers-men who dance with the angel of death and cheat him) took on an aura during combat. These guys seemed to have a very lightened effect-they also didn't seem to sweat as much while under stress of combat.---Just the opinions of one figure painter's thoughts while serving from 1970-1972. |
