This anomaly has also been documented in the case of some Sturmgeschutz units, around 1943-45 when that arm was expanding rapidly some units were issued black Panzer uniform with plain black collar patches (no skulls), & pink piping. Also instances exist of Stug units wearing black uniform with normal Litzen-type collar patches, as worn by Infantry etc. Photos also exist of Panzerjager I crews wearing black uniform with pink piping too.
