Your obsevations about the overhang are spot on. If anything, the DML lower hull stands proud of the top. What amazes me is how slab-sided the hull parts are compared to DML's normally thin moldings, and how difficult it is going to be to align everything.
I think adding ~ 1mm even with the outer edge of the upper hull is a good idea, as well as trimming enough away from the bevel on the bottom hull to allow this addition to hang over. This can be done without changing the basic hull diminsions.
I think, however, that doing more would also require making new doors and some interior adjustments that might take this beyond my skills.
The engine ventilation hoods don't bother me so much yet, but they are more angular than most of the photos I have. A little sanding and one or two false panels should fix that.
The whole thing looks too delicate in its details to me. Every detail looks just a tad skimpy.
One wonders what kind of job DML could have done if they hadn't got in a self-imposed race against AFV.
