This is scanned and enlarged from a ~25-year-old slide of the Aberdeen SdKfz 251 Ausf. C. My scanner software is still giving problems, so I had to save it in .pdf and then convert to .jpg via Photoshop, losing some definition at each step.
There is a jerrycan rack to the upper left. The offset between the upper and lower hull plates is clearly visible. There is, in contrast, no offset in the joint going from lower right upward to the left. Maybe we are just using different terms for the same thing, but it is this offset that is missing in the DML kit.
The Squadron page 45 photo is (imho) one of those instances where the shadow of the offset is lost in the general shadow of the upper hull. The photos of all Ausf. A-Cs that are clear enough to tell show this offset - which statement I hope is not tautological.
It would be very helpful to see a comparable image of the Bovington 251.
