Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Hello Andy:
I have been building tanks for over 20 years now, and would like to give you a little guidance. While the Trumpeter kits are cheaper than Tamiya as you mentioned, they do usually have some building quirks compared to Tamiya's usual better quality engineering. I have built the Trumpeter K1A1, M1A1HA, the Challenger 2, and have started the Faun. These kits all have nice detail, are generally accurate, and of good subject matter, but each had there own fit problems with some of the most basic parts. Be prepared for some frustration with Trumpeter kits, as they are not as easy to assemble as Tamiya's.

I would avoid the Tamiya kit and resin conversions for now, it sounds like that may be too much of a project for your skills. Get some regular plastic kits completed and then move to more challenging projects as your skills get better.

Let me know if I can help answer any other questions you may have, or continue to post on this DG.

Good luck and happy modeling
Matt
